Write about Someone You Misunderstood
Perspective shifts with time.
Write about someone you misunderstood.
Day 1 – First Impressions
Write about your earliest memory or impression of this person. What did you notice? What did you believe about them at the time?
Day 2 – The Story You Told Yourself
Explore the narrative you created about this person. What assumptions did you make? Where might those have come from?
Day 3 – A Moment of Tension or Distance
Write about a specific moment when the misunderstanding deepened. What was said—or left unsaid?
Day 4 – What Changed
Describe the turning point. What shifted your perspective? Was it something they did, something you learned, or something within you?
Day 5 – Seeing Them Anew
Write about how you see this person now. What do you understand that you didn’t before?
Day 6 – Regret and Compassion
Reflect on anything you regret. What might you have done differently? Can you extend compassion—to them and to yourself?
Day 7 – Forgiveness or Acceptance
Write into forgiveness, or acceptance if forgiveness feels too far. What, if anything, has been released? What remains?
Reminder:
Set your timer for 20 minutes. Write without stopping. Let the words come as they will—imperfect, unfinished, real.
Twenty minutes is enough.
